Verdi was one of the greatest opera composers of all time and many of his indelible arias, duets and rousing choruses are justly famous to those who have never seen an opera.

La donna e mobile, Brindisi, Celeste Aida, the Anvil Chorus, Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves and the Grand March from Aida, all included here, are testimony to Verdi’s ability to pen a truly memorable tune.

Many of the worlds greatest opera starts feature in this collection including Luciano Pavarotti, Joan Sutherland, Plácido Domingo, Angela Gheorghiu, Jose Carreras and Montserrat Caballe.

In addition to arias and choruses from 21 of Verdis 29 operas, the set also features other choral and orchestral works, including a number of rarities conducted by Riccardo Chailly, alongside more familiar excerpts from his Requiem and Four Sacred Pieces.
