Translation Services

The Metropolitan Opera is pleased to offer a professional interpreter for you in another language instead of English. There is no additional charge for this service. Simply tell our telephone representative your language preference. Assistance is available in more than 140 different languages, including: Italian, German, French, Russian, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin and Cantonese.

What if I have problems placing my order?

If you are having problems logging into your account, resetting your password, or receiving your member discount, please call customer service at (212) 501-3482 during business hours. 

Please note: you must be logged in to receive your member’s discount.  If you purchase a new membership, it may take up to 14 days for the discount to be active on the website. 

Can I cancel an order?

If you wish to change or cancel your order, please contact our Customer Service department at 212.501.3482 during regular business hours.  Please have the order number found in your order confirmation email ready.

Please Note: Online orders can only be canceled within 30 minutes of placing the order.

PAYMENTS AND GIFT CARDS

What forms of payment are accepted for online purchases?
We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover cards and Pay Pal. We do not accept checks, cash or money orders.

Sales Tax

Will I be charged sales tax?
The Met Opera Shop collects applicable sales tax for orders shipped to New York and New Jersey.  If your organization is tax exempt, you must make your purchase at the Met Opera Shop in Lincoln Center.  You must have the appropriate tax forms at the time of purchase.

Can the Met Opera Gift Card be purchased and redeemed online?
 

Purchasing a Gift Card

To purchase a gift card, simply click here .  E-Gift Cards for any amount from $5 up to $2,000 are available via the link provided in the Gift Card product description.

Gift cards expire five years from the date of purchase. Gift cards are non-refundable and may not be exchanged for cash, applied against previous purchases, or to purchase additional gift cards. In the event an unexpired gift card is lost, stolen, or destroyed and the Met is presented with adequate proof of its original purchase, the Met will replace the card upon request with the balance remaining at the time proof of purchase is presented. All matters arising from the purchase, use or possession of a gift card shall be governed by New York law and any dispute in connection with such matters must be resolved exclusively in a state or federal court located only in the County of New York.


Redeeming a Gift Card

To redeem a gift card, use the "Pay with the Met Gift Card" option on the checkout screen. You can check your gift card's balance, use multiple gift cards to pay for your purchase, or split the transaction between a gift card and a credit card. Your gift card balance will be depleted automatically once your order is submitted. If an item that a gift card was used to purchase is returned, a credit will be issued in the form of a new gift card.

Membership and Member Discount
 

Members receive a 10% discount on most items (excluding gift cards, shipping, tax, or membership purchases).  We encourage members to sign up for Met Opera Shop emails to receive special offers and additional discounts throughout the year.  To manage your email subscription click here.

Shipping and Delivery

We ship all over the United States and to over 20 countries using various shipping services.  Rates vary based on the location, total order amount, size and weight of your order.  Shipping and handling rates are calculated separately for each shipping address. Please note: oversized items may have additional shipping charges.

Most orders shipped to addresses within the continental United States will arrive in five to ten business days.  When your order ships, you will receive a tracking number for each package.  Please note that orders with multiple items may ship from different addresses and in several packages. 

When will my order arrive?
Allow 2-3 business days for all orders to leave the warehouse, except when express or premium delivery service is selected. You will receive an e-mail once your item(s) has shipped.

Do you offer express delivery?
YES, we offer express delivery for orders shipped to an address in the contiguous U.S. that are placed between 1AM ET Monday and 12 PM ET Thursday.  Additional charges will apply. Please see the delivery schedule below.

We do not offer Saturday delivery.

Do you deliver to PO Boxes, APOs, or FPOs?
At this time we do not deliver to P.O. Boxes, Army Post Office (APO) or Fleet Post Office (FPO) addresses.  Orders placed with P.O. Boxes, APOs, or FPOs will not be processed.

Shipping rates are calculated as flat fees:

Canadian Orders: $34.95
International Orders: $49.95

For international addresses you must fill in Country Field along with the complete address including Street, Street 2, City, Provence number or Zip Code.

When will my international order arrive?
 

Most in-stock items will arrive 11-24 business days after receipt of your order provided that there are no unforeseen delays in shipping or Customs.

Orders are shipped via a traceable international carrier. You will receive a tracking number when your order ships. Please note that shipping windows are estimates and delivery dates cannot be guaranteed.

Customs and Duty Fees

When ordering from the Met Opera Shop, the recipient is the importer of record and must comply with all laws and regulations of the destination country.

Orders that are shipped to countries outside of the United States may be subject to additional import taxes, customs duties and fees levied by the destination country. Additional charges for customs clearance are paid for by the recipient.

Customs policies vary widely from country to country. Please contact your local customs office for further information. Please note that customs clearance can cause delays beyond our original delivery estimates.

Returns & Refunds

What is your return policy for web orders?
 

If for any reason you are not satisfied with your purchase, you may return your unused, unopened and undamaged merchandise within 30 days for a prompt refund to the original form of payment. Gift recipients are eligible for store credit or a refund to the original form of payment.

The Met Opera Shop reserves the right to deny refund if the merchandise does not meet return policy requirements. 
 

Unfortunately, we cannot offer free shipping or free returns on international orders. We are currently unable to offer a return label for international returns.

To return an item you have two options:

Please make sure you include a copy of your packing slip and order number for an expedient credit.

We recommend you insure your package and use a shipping carrier that provides a tracking number.

2) Call customer care at 212-501-3482 and they will issue you a label by email or mail, please have your order number available. This may take up to 48 hours to send.

A charge of $7 will be incurred for use of the return label. 

 

We are currently unable to offer a return label for intenational returns.


Shipping and handling charges for returned merchandise are non-refundable unless we have made a shipping error.

Can I return an item to the Met Opera Shop at Lincoln Center?
Yes. Returns are accepted in the store. If you purchased an item online, you must include the packing slip and order number. 

Refunds

The Met Opera Shop will refund the original form of payment as long as the return meets the guidelines of our return policy.

Your refund will be processed within approximately 14 days of receiving your merchandise. Please note, your banking institution may require additional days to process and post this transaction to your account.

Security

Is it safe for me to pay by credit card over the Internet?
The Met is committed to handling your information in a secure and confidential manner. The metoperashop.org site uses industry-standard SSL encryption technology. SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encrypts your personal information so that it cannot be read as it travels over the Internet. 

We do not support versions of Internet Explorer prior to 11.0.  Please update your browser to the latest version.
