Returns & Exchanges
If for any reason you are not satisfied with your web purchase, you may return your unused, unopened and undamaged merchandise within 30 days for a prompt refund to the original form of payment. Gift recipients are eligible for store credit or a refund to the original form of payment.
- The Met Opera Shop reserves the right to deny a refund if the merchandise does not meet return policy requirements.
- A store credit will be issued for orders returned after the 30-day period. The store credit is valid for 60 days and can only be used in-store. A Customer Care Representative will contact you if this applies.
- Shipping and handling charges for returned merchandise are non-refundable unless we have made a shipping error.
- At this time we are unable to offer a return label for international returns, free shipping or free returns.
Please request a return label by contacting our Customer Care Department at (212) 501-3482 10AM-6PM ET (Monday-Friday). Please give them your order number and reasons for your return. It may take up to 48 hours to issue a return label via email or regular mail.
- A charge of $7 will be incurred for use of the return label.
- We are unable to offer a return label for international returns.

Please make sure to include a copy of your packing slip and order number to expedite the refund.
We strongly recommend you insure your package and use a shipping carrier that provides a tracking number. We are not responsible for packages lost or damaged in transit.
Can I return my order at the Met Opera Shop Lincoln Center store location?
During the Met’s closure, we are unable to accept returns in person at our Lincoln Center store location. Please see above instructions on returns by mail.
How and when will I receive my refund?
The Met Opera Shop will refund the original form of payment provided the item being returned meets the guidelines of our return policy. Your refund will be processed within approximately 14 days of receiving your returned merchandise. Please note, your banking institution may take additional days to process and post this transaction to your account.
If your item was purchased with a Gift Card, please allow additional time for a new Gift Card number to be sent to you in the amount of the return. You will be contacted by a Customer Service Representative regarding this.
