Exclusive to the Met Opera Shop, this extra-small Sputnik is inspired by the Met`s starburst chandeliers, one of the best-loved features of the opera house, which were dubbed `Sputniks` after the Russian spacecraft. They were a gift to the Met from the Austrian government upon its opening at Lincoln Center in 1966.
Hand-crafted from Swarovski crystals, each piece is a one-of-a-kind-work of art.

Beautiful Retirement Gift
I recently retired as a dancer with American Ballet Theatre and would spend 8 weeks every year performing at the Met. This is a stunning piece, gorgeous crystals and construction and a beautiful reminder of my time in this spectacular theater. A perfect gift!
