This matted frame includes a distinguished black and white portrait of Austro-Hungarian conductor Dr. Hans Richter, along with a beautifully penned personal note which reads:

London, 29th of June 1886.

Dear Mr. Stevens,

I am truly sorry to hear that you are going to leave England and that I therefore shall lose your help and cooperation in Birmingham for the next Music Festival. I have no doubt that wherever you go your talents and ability will secure you the position you so thoroughly deserve. With the best wishes for your success I remain yours very truly,
