Met Opera Mix Stix

Percussion is the foundation for some of the Met's most memorable moments -- from the infectious hammer beats of the "Anvil Chorus" in Il Trovatore to the jubilant marching band in the Met's production of “La Bohème”. Now you can lead your own rhythm section in the kitchen with these beech wood spoons that double as drumsticks. Includes one solid spoon and one slotted spoon (of special note!).

History

Music Notes

Most Western music is based on a system of notation that evolved around 1600 out of earlier practices. The starting point for any opera is the full score, which contains all individual voices and instruments arranged in a specific order on the page. The written music—representing the sounds a composer creates in his head—then comes to life performed by singers onstage and played by the orchestra.
