Madame Vigée-Lebrun Pearl Drop Earrings

These elegant earrings were inspired by a self-portrait of prominent 18th century, French painter, Madame Vigée-Lebrun.

Detailed with gold plated domed posts, they are made of solid brass, electro-plated with a gold finish and measure approximately 1 ½ inches long.

The subject of art has long been a theme in the world of opera, perhaps no better portrayed than in the Met’s production of Giacomo Puccini’s much-loved opera, Tosca, which features the famous aria Vissi d'Arte (I Lived for Art) sung by the principal female character, whose lover is Mario, a painter by trade.

  • Solid brass
  • Electro-plated gold finish
  • Giclee print
  • Gold plated dome posts
  • Hangs approximately 1.5” L

Tosca premiered in 1900 at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome. It is one of the world’s most frequently performed operas and is known as much for its gripping drama as for its appealing score. The setting is Rome, where Tosca, a beautiful and famous singer, battles to save her lover Mario from the sadistic police chief Scarpia. The role of Tosca has been long considered a proving ground for great operatic actresses.
