Luisa Miller (CD)
Conductor James Levine has totaled an incredible 85 operas during his forty year relationship with New York’s Metropolitan. This reissue is a 1991 recording of Levine conducting Verdi’s Louisa Miller.
Luisa Miller was Verdi’s 15th opera, and was composed during his ‘middle period.’ Based on the play Kabale und Liebe (Intrigue and Love) by German playwright Friedrich von Schiller, the three act opera is set to an Italian libretto by Salvadore Cammarano.
“This is Verdi singing of the highest class in both tone and feeling.” (Gramophone)

Thrilling Verdi cycle by Levine and Company. This should mention in the synopsis that Aprile Millo sang this and was the soprano for the Verdi series. Not since Caballe has there been a voice like Millo's, a real Verdi soprano. I agree with Alan Blythe about her. The real authentic Spinto singing and the most urgent reason to buy it. Brava.
