Klimt The Kiss Fan
This hand-held fan features a detail from Gustav Klimt’s sumptuous painting entitled The Kiss. Providing a breath of fresh air on hot days, the fan measures 15” wide x 8.5” high when open. It is made with a bamboo frame and polyester fabric, and the handle features a luxurious black tassel. Also included is a lined fabric storage sleeve in a coordinating design. The closed fan fits in most purses.
The colorful, floral fan is a lovely gift or keepsake reminiscent of the fans seen on stage in the Met Opera’s production of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly.

History
Puccini’s original version of Madama Butterfly premiered at Milan’s Teatro alla Scala in 1904. The composer was inspired to write an opera about a tragic love between a young Japanese geisha and an American Navy officer after seeing David Belasco’s play by the same name performed in London in June 1900. Puccini’s score includes many Japanese folk melodies, and is one of his most sweeping and sophisticated. It remains one of the world’s most popular operas.
