Description

Carmen Red Treble Clef Kitchen Towel

Made exclusively for the Metropolitan Opera Shop, this multipurpose flour sack kitchen towel features a striking red treble clef set against the musical score of Georges Bizet’s time-honored opera, Carmen.

For the past 100 years, flour sack towels have remained the cook’s favorite choice because of their softness and superb ability to dry dishes.

After the flour was used, the sack was bleached, washed and trimmed for re-use. It is perhaps one of the oldest known examples of recycling.

Made of 100% cotton, this cloth’s durability and generous size make it a handy item to have around the kitchen. 30” x 30” square.

Ideal for fans of the culinary and musical arts. An excellent memento of the Metropolitan Opera.

History

Music Notes

Most Western music is based on a system of notation that evolved around 1600 out of earlier practices. The starting point for any opera is the full score, which contains all individual voices and instruments arranged in a specific order on the page. The written music—representing the sounds a composer creates in his head—then comes to life performed by singers onstage and played by the orchestra.
