Philadelphia’s Time for Three is a dynamic trio of classically-trained musicians who have broken new ground by fusing a wide variety of musical genres. Violinists Zachary De Pu and Nicolas Kendall and double-bassist Ranaan Meyer break all the rules with their eclectic style.

Nicolas Kendall says “…the three of us grew up listening to all kinds of music 90s hip-hop, grunge, and bluegrass and we’ve always played a wide variety of music. We’re part of a new generation of classically trained musicians who approach diverse styles from the same heartfelt place.”

The album features unique collaborations with singer-songwriter Joshua Radin, jazz icon Branford Marsalis, cellist Alisa Weilerstein, ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro, and the folk duo Lily & Madeleine.

The trio blends its sounds with Joshua Radin’s voice in new arrangements for his signature songs. Tf3 performs the “Queen of Voodoo” with Branford Marsalis, creating a stylistic gumbo of American music. They collaborate with cellist Alisa Weilerstein for composer Kenji Bunch’s arrangement of the Rachmaninoff favorite “Vocalise,” with folk-pop duo Lily & Madeleine on Meyer’s arrangement of the timeless “Danny Boy,” and with Jake Shimabukuro on Kendall’s “Happy Day.”

The album also includes a Tf3 concert favorite, “Chaconne in Winter,” a mash-up of Bach’s “Chaconne” melded with Bon Iver’s “Calgary,” and a fresh instrumental of Coldplay’s “UFO.”

“Three benevolent monsters, monsters of ability and technique surely…Conveyers of an infectious joy I find both touching and moving” - Sir Simon Rattle
