"The Starry Night" Music Box Paper Weight

Depicting a reproduction of The Starry Night, by Dutch post-impressionist artist, Vincent van Gogh, this clever paperweight is also a wind up music box, which plays Claude Debussy’s famous serenade, Clair de Lune.

Made of clear plastic it allows the listener to see the internal mechanism as it plays, while the gold acrylic ring comes off making it possible to replace the original image with a photo, company logo or other picture.

Music Notes

Most Western music is based on a system of notation that evolved around 1600 out of earlier practices. The starting point for any opera is the full score, which contains all individual voices and instruments arranged in a specific order on the page. The written music—representing the sounds a composer creates in his head—then comes to life performed by singers onstage and played by the orchestra.
