Samson et Delila “Mon Coeur” Charm Bracelet
This striking charm bracelet is inspired by the seductive aria `Mon cœur s`ouvre à ta voix` from the Saint-Saens opera, Samson et Delilah.
Each one-of-a-kind piece is made of adjustable, coiled wire strung with carefully selected glass beads and pewter tokens reflecting themes and characters in the opera.
Colors of deep red and purple suggest passion and seduction, while hints of black indicate Samson`s dark fate. Small pewter hearts and flowers represent words from the aria, a caged heart symbolizes Samson`s entrapment through love and a dagger indicates the shearing of his hair.
Measuring 2 ½” in diameter, its flexibility provides for an easy, comfortable fit.
Included is a card detailing the symbolism of each charm and color used in creating this piece.

Samson et Dalila
Camille Saint-Saëns’s sensual French opera, Samson et Dalila, is based on the Book of Judges in the Old Testament. Set around 1150 BC, it takes place in the city of Gaza, a capital of ancient Philistia and the foothill country leading to Jerusalem.
Portions of the opera, including Dalila’s seduction aria “Mon coeur s’ouvre à ta voix” and the ballet sequence in the final act—the Bacchanale—are known well beyond the opera house.
This three-act grand opera was first performed in Weimar at the Grossherzogliches (Grand Ducal) Theater on December 2, 1877. Later the Met revived the work in its 1915/1916 season with Margarete Matzenauer as Delilah and Enrico Caruso as Samson.
The production returned to the Met in its 2018–19 season.
