Description

Runaway Strings Violin Sculpture

This charming one-of-a-kind violin sculpture was created by Mark Serrianne, an artist who creates “Assemblage Sculpture Art.” His pieces consist of hand-selected vintage antiques that are assembled to create a modern eclectic sculptural design. Each composition conveys a unique message or personal story.

This assemblage is created from a 1930s toy tin violin, handmade in Czechoslovakia and found (absent strings) in Arcadia, FL. The violin includes well-patinaed tin and artist-repaired wooded pegs, and the early tin butterfly is from mechanical pull toy found in Salamanca, NY. The violin has been “restrung” with brass wire and threaded beads run wild.

Designed and handmade by the artist, the iron stand securely holds the violin, creating a beautiful and unique display.

  • Tin, brass, wood & iron
  • 13” H from base to top, 15” W from end of wires to tail of violin

History

Music Notes

Most Western music is based on a system of notation that evolved around 1600 out of earlier practices. The starting point for any opera is the full score, which contains all individual voices and instruments arranged in a specific order on the page. The written music—representing the sounds a composer creates in his head—then comes to life performed by singers onstage and played by the orchestra.
