Description

Cuban boleros and Argentinean tangos constitute the core of this CD. Yvan Cassar's ingenious and felicitous arrangements preserve and emphasize every song's musical fingerprint.

What the critics are saying:

"...a revelatory tour of Central and South America, with enough Brazilian bossa novas, Cuban boleros and Argentine tangos to set your hips swaying and feet tapping..."î

Alagna "brings a loose rhythmic ease and a variety of colors to each number. ...the entire disc exudes a sunny charm."

History

Tosca premiered in 1900 at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome. It is one of the world’s most frequently performed operas and is known as much for its gripping drama as for its appealing score. The setting is Rome, where Tosca, a beautiful and famous singer, battles to save her lover Mario from the sadistic police chief Scarpia. The role of Tosca has been long considered a proving ground for great operatic actresses.
