As Reviewed in The New York Times

“This album, her most impressive in some time… Ms. Fleming brings an entrancing balance of refinement and ardor to Ravel’s voluptuous song cycle “Shéhérazade,” with Alan Gilbert drawing plush, textured playing from the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France."

“Many of the songs have leaping vocal lines and fits of passion, captured vividly by Ms. Fleming in her visceral and dreamy singing.”

“Ms. Fleming’s account of Dutilleux’s “Deux Sonnets de Jean Cassou” … completes this tour de force."

Anthony Tommasini, The New York Times

Doing what she does best

Renee Fleming is an incredible artist. While she can master her way through standard repertoire, she has always had a strong passion for pioneering new music. Here we have one of her most heartfelt and enthralling recital discs in years. Under the baton of several conductors in both live and studio recording sessions, we get a glimpse into this exciting, sensual, extremely rare repertoire - pieces that have been around for years, and also pieces that where written specifically for her. Highly recommend for any Fleming fan, or anyone that is interested in contemporary music.
