With appearances on the world’s top opera stages, Pretty Yende is one of today’s most sought-after sopranos. Her first album, A Journey, received the 2017 International Opera Award for Best Recording and garnered her national press and television appearances including Good Morning America, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and The Wendy Williams Show.

Her second album, Dreams, showcases Yende’s lyric coloratura voice with signature pieces from the bel canto repertoire, including “Je veux vivre” from Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette and the mad scene from Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor. With Dreams, Yende not only slips into the various dreams of young opera heroines but also pays homage to her own dream come true.

Born in in the small town of Piet Retief, South Africa, Yende has risen to the top of the opera world with unparalleled speed. Her debut album celebrated the milestones of her sublime musical journey; starting at the age of 16, when she decided to sing opera after hearing Delibes’s “Flower Duet” on a television advertisement, to her debut at La Scala and her international breakthrough at New York’s Metropolitan Opera at the age of only 27.
