Live at Carnegie Hall
Recorded live on May 19, 2013, this concert with the MET Orchestra marked Maestro Levine’s return to the stage after a two-year absence due to injury. His appearance at Carnegie Hall was greeted with a standing ovation which led to a concert that garnered near universal audience and critical praise.
Levine is a winner of ten Grammy Awards, five of which have been with the Metropolitan Opera; and since his company debut in 1971, has built the ensemble into one of the world’s premiere orchestras.
This release coincides with the opening of the Metropolitan Operas 2013-14 season, which also marks the maestro’s first performances in the opera house in over two years where he will lead three opera productions.
The guest artist at this Carnegie Hall concert was pianist Evgeny Kissin—a frequent collaborator with Levine and also a celebrated performer around the globe—whose previous recordings have earned awards including the Edison Klassiek in The Netherlands, the Diapason d Or, and the Grand Prix of La Nouvelle Academie du Disque in France, along with two Grammy Awards in the United States.
