Green Peacock Music Box

Item# 10062434

Green Peacock Music Box

Imitating the iridescent blue and green tail feathers of a peacock in a scallop pattern, this exquisite enameled music box is handcrafted from an actual goose egg, which is adorned with crystal-like embellishments and a small sparkly blue peacock statuette on top. It is displayed on its own three-legged stand.

Captivating and unique, it is created in the lavishly ornate style of the celebrated Fabergé eggs designed for the Russian Imperial family between 1885 and 1916.

When opened the music box plays, You Are So Beautiful when opened, revealing a soft, fabric lined interior for small keepsakes or jewelry.

This exquisite piece is reflective of the designs seen in the sets and costumes featured in the Met’s production of Modest Mussorgsky’s opera, Boris Godunov.

Music Notes

Most Western music is based on a system of notation that evolved around 1600 out of earlier practices. The starting point for any opera is the full score, which contains all individual voices and instruments arranged in a specific order on the page. The written music—representing the sounds a composer creates in his head—then comes to life performed by singers onstage and played by the orchestra.
