Description

G-Clef Silver Necklace

Though a standardized G-clef began to appear in musical scores as far back as the 17th century, they were not popular until the 19th century, when advances in the printing process allowed inexpensive sheet music to be made financially within reach of amateur musicians needing symbols of musical notation.

This delightful necklace featuring a G-clef is fashioned from solid brass, electro-plated with a non-tarnishing silver finish. The pendant hangs approximately 1 ¾ inches from an
18 inch long chain. This piece is inspired by great music like that heard in the many brilliant productions at the Metropolitan Opera.

History

Music Notes

Most Western music is based on a system of notation that evolved around 1600 out of earlier practices. The starting point for any opera is the full score, which contains all individual voices and instruments arranged in a specific order on the page. The written music—representing the sounds a composer creates in his head—then comes to life performed by singers onstage and played by the orchestra.
