Four Monkeys Pen Holder

This cheeky penholder made of pewter, features a sculpture of three  monkeys plus one extra, a play on the classic proverbial principle, “See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” with one monkey covering his eyes, another his ears and a third, his mouth. Inscribed beneath the fourth monkey with bound hands, is the additional sentiment, “write no evil”.

Abundant in wit and wise advice, it holds your favorite pen in a horizontal, easy-to-reach position and makes a handsome desk accessory. It is reminiscent of the island setting in Bizet’s exotic opera, Les Pêcheurs de Pearls, performed so brilliantly by the Met.
