Description

Akhnaten Lotus Flower Earrings

Inspired by ancient Egyptian art, these striking, gold-finished pewter and epoxy earrings feature a colorful lotus flower design made in the cloisonné style.

Symbolism always played a very important role in Egyptian art. Here the carnelian red bead at the top signifies energy, the dark blue lapis lazuli stone represents the deep blue sky at night and the light blue turquoise is an expression of joy. Surgical steel ear-posts. They measure 1¼” long.

Reminiscent of ancient Egyptian-inspired costumes created for the Met’s critically acclaimed production of Akhnaten.

History

Philip Glass's Akhnaten

Visionary American composer Philip Glass’s mesmerizing look at ancient Egypt, Akhnaten explores the life and influence of the young pharaoh who sought to reform centuries-old religious and social orders.

The opera’s score is lyrical, elegiac, and a powerful example of the effectiveness of its composer’s minimalist approach.
