The New York Times has praised Maestro Levine as “one of the greatest living American conductors and a musician who has defined the Metropolitan Opera for more than 40 years.”
The Met’s Music Director since 1976, Levine made his debut with the company in 1971 and has conducted 2,441 Met performances, more than anyone in the company’s history. His 40th anniversary with the company was celebrated in the spring of 2011.
The collection includes the DVD and CD box sets of James Levine: Celebrating 40 Years at the Met, which showcase more than 100 Levine performances, and the retrospective book by Levine about his first four decades with the company, James Levine: 40 Years at the Metropolitan Opera.
