La Bohème Print

One of the most iconic moments in Opera can be found in Act III of Puccini’s La Bohème; on the outskirts of Paris on a cold and snowy day, Mimi and Rodolfo embrace recalling happier times while facing an uncertain future.

Photographed during the Mets 2010-2011 performance of Franco Zeffirelli’s beloved production starring Vittorio Grigolo and Maija Kovalevska, this tender scene is captured in a gorgeous digital print by Jonathan Tichler.

One of the most popular operas of all time, Puccini’s La Bohème premiered at Turin’s Teatro Regino in 1896. The work, renowned for its beautiful arias and emotional intensity, opens in the Parisian garret of a group of young artists and writers. This is where the poet Rodolfo meets his neighbor Mimì, who knocks on the door and asks to borrow a candle. Thus begins a fateful – and unforgettable – relationship as the two struggle to sustain their love against the challenges of poverty, jealousy and physical decline.
